Creative Writing

This programme provides you with the opportunity to gain a higher degree through a combination of taught modules, independent study, writing and research. The MA in Creative Writing offers the opportunity to develop your skills as a writer and to explore the theory and practice of writing in the contemporary world.

Entry requirements

Applicants should hold a 2nd Class Honours degree in a relevant area from an approved university or institution. Students whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.0, or equivalent. Students are required to submit pieces of writing in 1 or more genres (from poetry, prose fiction or drama) with their application.

Course modules

Modules include: Critical approaches to creative writing; writers, readers and audiences; writing the voice; the contemporary writer.

Assessment methods

The degree normally consists of 4 taught modules and a portfolio. All modules are normally assessed by essay or portfolio.
