York St John University
Theatre and Performance
This programme allows students to focus on developing their own arts practice. Aimed at recent graduates or current practitioners within traditions of theatre, dance, and live art, this course will enhance the conceptual, creative and compositional strategies that they employ in making work. Whilst focus is on theatre and performance, there will also be opportunities for cross-disciplinary study.
Applicants should hold an upper 2nd Class Honours degree in a related subject (such as drama, theatre, live art, dance, music, place/space/time-based art) or a 2nd Class Honours degree from another discipline with extensive experience of arts practice or working in a professional arts environment. Students whose 1st language is not English require IELTS 6.0 (with no less than 6.0 in each individual component) or equivalent. For all candidates there will be an interview and consideration of a portfolio of work.
Modules include: Reflective practice; creativity and knowledge; Master's independent project.
Formative assessment of generic skills will be maintained throughout the programme through a range of tasks, projects and presentations. Summative assessment will take a variety of forms, including presentations of art works, reports, essays, catalogue documents, case studies and annotated documentations.
