Music Production

This degree is designed for students with existing music production practice, to sharpen your skills and to deepen your understanding of the context in which you work. You are given the opportunity to develop an appreciation and understanding of the discipline of music production in terms of academic critique, as well as the industry-specific context of production practice.

Entry requirements

You will be considered on the basis of the whole portfolio of evidence provided for the application process. This will include examples of your existing production practice, evidence of critical engagement, reflective practice, and academic qualifications. Normally, all candidates will be interviewed. As part of this process candidates will be asked to prepare a short presentation, and to bring a portfolio of their work for consideration. Applicants whose 1st language is not English must show evidence of English Language competence at IELTS level 6.0 (with no skill below 5.5) or equivalent.

Modules: Critical perspectives on music production; technology and creativity; producing recorded music; the business of music production; music production project.

Assessment methods

Assessment includes a music production project.
